Tools I Use

The hardware and dev tools I use

Computer Setup

After doing some research trying to find a computer that is Linux-friendly with upgradeable RAM, easy to repair, affordable, good keyboard, and military grade durability; I stumbled on the this pc.

It can support up to 96 GB of RAM if you can afford that. Currently I'm using like half that and running my other agents via SSH to a beefy cloud machine on Contabo that runs 24/7.

This powerful, yet unbeefy mini pc comes with Ryzen 7 processor and can support up to 128GB of DDR5 RAM, and includes an OCuLink Dual USB4 port that can support an external graphics card like a GPX 4080 for running local AI-models at high speeds.

Great keyboard that allows me to work both from my laptop and mini pc at the click of a button.

This software allows me to use one mouse to control both my computers at the same time.

Large Wooden Desk

I've tried all sorts of desks over the years, from the fancy semi-automated standing desk, to modern glass desks, and temporarily settled on a very boring, but functional 4'W x 3'L wooden desk, that I'm happily using now. Don't know the brand, but it's not too unique from other wooden desks.

Super comfortable chair that might only be available in Brazil, but as long as you find a chair that's comfortable, height-adjustable, pelvic-tiltable (to avoid back pain and find the partner of your dreams), breathable, ergonomic, and mesh backed to reduce back sweat and improve your intense coding sessions; then you should be good.

This 25" monitor helps me be more productive when doing web development work from home and most other online things.

16" Portable Monitor

Use this as a third monitor at home and as a second monitor while traveling. It's pretty sweet.

After decades of using generic mice, I finally decided to upgrade to a gamer mouse and will never go back. This mouse has sensitiviy adjustment, so I can easily change the movement speed, for doing different types of work, (for example: artwork, vs browsing), a double click button, and super ergonomic feel to prevent carpal tunnel syndrome.

Portable Battery pack that can charge both my laptop and phone while traveling. It can hold a lot of juice in its tiny package.

Misc Peripherals

This peripheral let's me plug in all my other peripherals.

This keeps my computer and lap cool when I'm working from the couch and also prevents thermal throttling when running agent swarms locally.

People always ask me, "how do you smell so good?", and these are the reason why. These socks have a special blend of merino wool that allows me to go days without stench.

Text Editing

Neovim and Fresh

Neovim is a lightweight, yet powerful text editor that's good for terminal-centric workflows. I also like using Fresh when I need to do quick edits, like edit API keys.

I carry a little notepad with me everywhere to capture good and bad ideas, and to work on ideas when I need a break from the computer.

I like adding a little color to my notes with these pens, I think it makes them more organized and memorable. I also like having the redundancy of four pens in one.

I use these with TTS software like Whispr Flow to talk with my AI agents, draft emails, and do other things that would take longer if I were to type them. They provide top-quality audio quality at poverty-level pricing. They are also super lightweight, comfortable, and have a flip-to-mute microphone, and up to 20 hours of battery life and noise cancellation in case you want to hear nothing for 20 hours.

I use this 15 button macropad to setup one-tap shortcuts to save time on repetitive tasks like reopening tmux sessions, open backend deployment logs, github, run prompts, filing taxes, etc.

Sleep Tech

I use these goggles when I'm working on the computer late at night to improve my sleep and to spook my neighbors when looking out the window

This software gradually decreases the blue-light your computer produces as the day progresses to help you sleep better if you're into that sorta thing.

Security

1password

It can be easy to get in the habit of reusing passwords for convenience and give up security. This cloud-based password manager can solve this problem by creating random passwords for you and saving them in a secure safe in the cloud that you can access from anywhere.

Proton VPN

I work at coffee shops a lot and use the pubic wifi. Unfortunately, almost all public wifi networks are unencrypted, which means people could see any of my network activity, including financial transactions, if they wanted to. By using a VPN, you're able to encrypt this traffic to increase your digital privacy and security on public networks. This is also useful for accessing US-based apps when traveling internationally.

Cloudflare offers a very generous free-tier for small and growing websites that allows you to serve your content over their expansive and fast content delivery network (CDN) while simultaneously protecting your site from bots that try to overload your servers or perform other types of digital attacks.
